Praying a psalm in the morning
The psalms were songs and prayers, and many of them are written in the first person. You can read them as your own words to God, one verse at a time.
Read it once slowly
Read Psalm 23 aloud, slowly, and notice the verse that stands out. Do not explain it yet.
Pray the verse back
Turn that verse into a sentence of your own. For example, "The LORD is my shepherd" becomes "Lord, lead me today where I need to go."
End with thanks
Finish with a line of thanks. Many psalms end this way, and it keeps the prayer from becoming a list of requests.
